Any tips for recruiting in the Great Lakes area? Looking for civil engineering personnel?

My company is in the Seattle area and we’d like to recruit people from the Great Lakes area, specifically Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. We are a civil engineering firm looking for Designers, EITs, land surveyors, project managers, etc. I’m looking for resources other than monster, careerbuilder, and craigslist.
Thanks!
We’re mainly targeting the Great Lakes area because there’s a higher percentage of good people there looking for work. Seattle would be a great place to move to. Thanks for the advice on universities! I’ll check it out.

It is slim picking out there.

I had been searching for Civil Engineers for my firm for months. I finally found a couple last month, one EIT who replied to an ad I placed at the local university, and a PE who I found at ASCE Career Connections. I had almost hired a professional recruiter after I received only 6 or 7 resumes in 3 months.

Good Luck!

It might be best if you contacted the universities in that area that have civil engineering programs and set up a relationship with their student career resources department and the civil engineering department and student organizations. That is a good place to start and network out from there.

Any reason you are just looking for people from Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin and Minnesota and not anywhere else?
